A yellow star tries to move on with her life after the death of her grandmother, a blue star named Estrellada. As she faces a presence that seems to be following her, Estrellita must confront the memory she has been avoiding to understand that love, rather than disappearing with loss, transforms within those who remain.

Character design

Estrellita is the protagonist of the story. She is a yellow star who represents the one who remains after an emotional loss. Her appearance and luminosity change throughout the narrative as a symbol of her emotional state, reflecting the grieving process, from the dimming caused by denial to the emotional integration that gives rise to a new light.

Estrellada is Estrellita’s grandmother and is represented as a blue star. She embodies emotional memory and the bond that endures even after physical absence. After her death, she appears as a presence or specter that accompanies the protagonist in her daily routine. Her narrative role is to prompt Estrellita to confront the memory she has been avoiding.

I appear at the end of the story writing a letter addressed to my grandmother. My presence reveals that the narrative is an autobiographical metaphor, and through this final gesture I aim to connect the symbolic universe of stars with my own experience of grief.
